There is currently intense speculation about what will happen to Thomas Tuchel after a possible exit from the Champions League. Does the FC Bayern coach have to leave even earlier than planned? Or can he even continue as planned until the end of the season? The record champions’ bosses are in a quandary, as a report has now revealed.
A groundbreaking game is coming up for Thomas Tuchel and FC Bayern on Tuesday evening: Only by progressing in the Champions League can the team and coach avoid further unrest on Säbener Straße. But the undertaking is not easy, as the Munich team lost 1-0 to Lazio in the first leg of the round of 16.
The big question: What actually happens if the German record champions – after being eliminated from the DFB Cup – are also eliminated early in the premier class. Does Tuchel, who is already said to have a difficult relationship with the team, have to leave immediately instead of at the end of the season? According to “Bild” information, people are “torn internally” on this issue.
Those responsible are in a quandary: On the one hand, there are voices that say that Tuchel should continue even in the event of a European knockout, then nothing will matter anyway, after the championship is seven points behind Bayer Leverkusen (the Werkself will win on Sunday , 3:30 p.m. in Cologne it could even be ten points) is also probably no longer an issue.

FC Bayern without agreement on the (short-term) successor question
As “Bild” further reports, it has not yet been possible to agree on a coach within the management level who could – and above all would – take over the reins for the last three months or so.
An interim coach within the current management, i.e. an internal solution, is difficult anyway because all assistants come from Tuchel’s team. There is also no suitable candidate among the young talents.
That’s why it could well be that Tuchel will remain coach even in the worst case scenario – until his early retirement on June 30th!
