Young player Jordi Bongard died at the age of 20. This was officially announced by Borussia M’Gladbach on Thursday.
Borussia Mönchengladbach mourns the loss of young player Jordi Bongard. As the club officially announced on Thursday, the 20-year-old died in a traffic accident last night.
“We received this terrible news this morning and are stunned. Our deepest sympathy and our thoughts are with Jordi’s family,” said sporting director Roland Virkus. Bongard has played for Borussia since 2013 and has had a professional contract since July 2021.
Today’s training sessions for the professionals and the U23s as well as the press conference before the Bundesliga duel on Saturday with VfL Wolfsburg have also been cancelled.
The central defender last played for the U23s of the Foals and played a number of international matches for the U17s and 18s of the German national team.
