Books are not condemned to death. Jeff Jarvis corrects himself. – Culture

The author, journalism professor and founder Jeff Jarvis is one of the most sought-after oracles in the American media world. He became famous with his book “What Would Google Do?” from 2009, in which he described Google’s actions as exemplary and outlined 30 rules for future entrepreneurial actions. The book was particularly badly received at the time. If it is to survive as a medium, says Jarvis, it must be completely rethought, digital and interactive, for example, so that it can be continually updated and systematically searched. It also needs to be converted so that it can be used more collaboratively and can be linked, and it should also be produced more cost-effectively and sold more cheaply. The problem, however, is that it is so admired that it is considered untouchable. Jarvis’ pithy conclusion: “We need to get over books.” We should forget the book. A first class funeral. That was 15 years ago.
