Book Review: Jochen Gutsch’s novel “Frankie” in “Westermann Reads”

Presenter, journalist and author Christine Westermann loves books. Here she presents her new discovery every two weeks. In “Frankie”, author Jochen Gutsch skillfully mixes humor and tragedy when a talking tomcat and a suicidal man strike up a conversation.

Her name is Elfriede Jelinek. When she arrived as a tiny ball of wool, the Gutsch family wanted to give the little cat something sublime. The name of a Nobel Prize winner in literature fitted. Especially since the Cat Handbook recommended giving cats a name with a lot of vowels.
