She was looking for garbage, but found something completely different: A 47-year-old discovered a live hand grenade while cleaning up in a park in Bogenhausen. Special forces from the Munich police were deployed last Saturday and confirmed the woman’s suspicions: it was a real weapon of war. The officers transported the hand grenade to the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office.
The woman from Munich took part in a clean-up operation by a nature conservation association in the Denninger Anger. The police have not yet announced what type of hand grenade it was.
The site was cordoned off and more than 20 officers were looking for more weapons. But they didn’t find any other suspicious items. The police are now investigating the violation of the War Weapons Control Act.
