Bodycam: Pizza delivery man saves children from burning house

Nicholas Bostic is celebrated as a hero in the USA.
Dramatic bodycam footage shows the 25-year-old handing a six-year-old child into the hands of a firefighter before losing his strength.
What happened?
About 12:30 a.m., while walking to a gas station, Bostic noticed flames in an apartment building on Union Street in Lafayette. The pizza delivery man ran into the house without hesitation and started screaming to wake up the residents.
The 18-year-old big sister then came down the stairs with three of her smaller siblings.
“I let her out the back door. I asked who else is inside. Is there anyone else? They told me the six-year-old was still inside,” Bostic later explained in an interview.
He went back into the burning house and looked for the child. When he didn’t find it on the first floor, he went back to the ground floor.
Due to the heavy smoke, the 25-year-old could no longer see, but the six-year-old could be heard crying. “I relied on my ears to follow her voice,” Bostic said.
With closed eyes and groping he found the young girl.
“I ran to the back door, but I couldn’t find her. I felt like I got more and more disoriented the further I went to find the door. (…) So I went back to the first floor where I could see something”, Bostic explains.
There, the young man broke a window and jumped from the first floor with the child in his arms.
With his last strength he brought the girl to the firefighters and collapsed.
When he arrived, the fire was only the size of a campfire, Bostic said. When the fire brigade arrived a short time later, the entire house was already on fire.
The child suffered only minor injuries, according to police.
Nicholas Bostic didn’t get off so lightly. He was taken to the hospital by helicopter with burns, injuries to his arms and legs and smoke inhalation.
His family is now raising funds for treatment on Facebook and gofundme. More than $60,000 has already been raised on gofundme alone.
According to his own statements, Bostic is recovering very well. In the US, the 25-year-old pizza delivery man is celebrated as a hero.
