Next Sunday, August 14, the district will be the venue for a mega-sports event: the European Championships in men’s road cycling races will start in Murnau and end in Munich via Kochel am See, Walchensee, Jachenau, Lenggries and Bad Toelz, Eurasburg and Muensing. In some municipalities, including Eurasburg, Bad Tölz and Geretsried, this is used as an occasion for festivities along the route or around the bike. However, the sporting event also leads to traffic obstructions due to the route being blocked off at times. In addition, due to the cycle race, there are timetable changes and rail replacement services on the Munich – Holzkirchen – Lenggries route of the Bayerische Oberlandbahn (BOB). These are announced for morning and midday in both directions for four connections with rail replacement bus services between Schaftlach and Lenggries. The buses sometimes run at different times than the trains in the regular timetable. In Reichersbeuern, the SEV stop was temporarily relocated to the B 472/ Engen-Gasteig-Weg due to road construction work. As usual, users will find on the website (www.brb.de) Special timetables for download. Train connections not listed in the special timetable run regularly. The website also offers the option of subscribing to a newsletter for up-to-date information on major disruptions and construction sites.
