His death was unexpected and shocked his family, friends and fans. Actor Bob Saget passed away on January 9, 2022 at the age of 65. “Full House” co-star John Stamos now looks back on his friendship with Saget with moving words. The “New York Times” has published excerpts from a video interview that Stamos gave at his home in Los Angeles.
The actor goes back to the rocky start of what later became a very close relationship. “Our styles didn’t go together at all,” Stamos recalls. Bob was a comedian. He, on the other hand, was looking for drama. “I think we met in the middle.”
Stamos, 58, also recalls the time his father died. Bob was there for him and took care of him and even gave the speech at the end. “Two hours of dirty jokes I think my dad would have liked.” Everyone needed something to laugh about at that moment. He thinks that really cemented their friendship, which has only gotten closer and closer since then, Stamos said. They were there for each other in all the most important moments. Now he has to get through it without Bob.

Stamos is very open about his friend Bob Saget: “He was the most insecure person I’ve met in my life.” For many years, it was his job to help Bob understand “how good he was and how smart he was and how funny he was and how much people loved him.” He guarantees, according to Stamos, that Bob went to his grave unaware of the love this world had for him. “And that makes me so sad because he wanted this so badly.”
John Stamos also looks back on the last time he saw his longtime, close friend, about a month before Saget’s death. Bob didn’t look like someone who was dying. “But he was very calm, which was strange for Bob. He was kind of at peace.”
