Production of the Bob Dylan biopic is scheduled to start this summer. Lead actor Timothée Chalamet will sing in the film himself.

Timothée Chalamet (27) will soon perform the songs of music superstar Bob Dylan (81) personally on the big screen. James Mangold (59), who will direct the actor in the planned Bob Dylan biopic entitled “A Complete Unknown”, spoke to Collider about the project. When asked if Chalamet would sing for the film, the filmmaker replied, “Of course!”

The film is about the young Bob Dylan

The project is based on the book “Dylan Goes Electric!” by author Elijah Wald (64) from 2015, the script was written by Jay Cocks (79). “It’s such an amazing time in American culture,” Mangold said of the film. It is an “interesting, true” story of a young, 19-year-old Bob Dylan “who comes to New York with two dollars in his pocket and within three years becomes a worldwide sensation”. In New York, he was absorbed into the folk scene until, according to the director, he “surpassed his peers at a certain point” with his incredible rise.

Mangold added that filming is expected to begin in August and that musical personalities such as Woody Guthrie (1912-1967), Pete Seeger (1919-2014) and Joan Baez (82) are part of the story.

The biopic’s title, “A Complete Unknown,” references one of Bob Dylan’s most iconic songs, the 1965 hit “Like a Rolling Stone.” The film will follow Dylan’s early career – from the very beginning to his then controversial switch to electric guitar.

Chalamet also sings in “Wonka”.

Timothée Chalamet will probably also sing in another film. The “Dune” star will embody the young Willy Wonka from “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” in “Wonka” by director Paul King (45). He had revealed to British “Vogue” that he will have seven musical interludes in the strip. The work should be on display in December.
