BMW manager: “The car is a question of freedom.” – Munich

A BMW manager explains what the company is doing to protect the climate, why the car is a question of freedom and why he doesn’t apologize for the customers’ taste.

Thomas Becker works for BMW, for the climate and freedom. The manager, “Head of Sustainability, Mobility”, explains with a lot of PowerPoint how the group protects the environment. Because he is doing this at the “Climate Justice” conference of the Academy for Civic Education in Tutzing, contradiction is guaranteed, and so Becker’s performance is remarkably honest. In front of him, Elisabeth Merk explains how she has to struggle as a city planning officer: In her urban development plan, she has to accommodate many conflicting interests and, by means of green spaces, also allow room to breathe in densely built-up Munich.
