Blümchen and Wacken – can that go well? The ’90s pop star ventured onto the stage alongside Lord of the Lost and sparked controversy among metal fans.

The Wacken Open Air is actually more for fans of the harder tonality. However, not everything played there is metal. Heino has been on stage before. The Cologne dialect group Höhner also. And now also flowers. However, some metal fans couldn’t explain what she was doing among the rockers of Lord of the Lost.

The fact that Jasmin Wagner, as Blümchen is actually called, was allowed to take the microphone as a special guest of the dark rock band has to do with the fact that she already worked on the group’s last album last year. Together with the singer Chris Harms, she recorded a cover version of the Roxette hit “The Look” – which they now performed at their performance in Wacken.

Blümchen causes mixed feelings at the Wacken Open Air

As expected, the guest performance caused mixed feelings among the assembled heavy metal friends. Wacken fans asked themselves on Facebook For example: “Blümchen and Lord of the Lost sing a song by Roxette in Wacken … and encourage the audience to sing along, which doesn’t feel like it … why?” Or also: “Why do you let them on the property?”

But Lord of the Lost have also had a rather dubious reputation among die-hard metal heads since their participation in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest – in which they took last place with the song “Blood & Glitter”. The performance of the metal legends Iron Maiden caused a lot more euphoria on Friday.

Despite a few wrinkled metal noses, Jasmin “Blümchen” Wagner obviously didn’t let her good mood spoil in Wacken. On Instagram before the performance, she posted a photo of herself in front of the festival’s iconic “Bullhead” logo and cheerfully captioned it with “Mud monster! Can’t wait to sing with Lord of the Lost tonight!”
