After the bombing of a ticket machine at the Haar train station and two cigarette machines in Heimstetten and Aschheim, the police are still looking for the perpetrators. Meanwhile, similar cases are being reported from northern Bavaria: Two more explosions occurred in the Coburg district on Thursday night. According to witnesses, two men destroyed a machine in Sonnefeld, the police said. Almost half an hour later, the two allegedly blew up another one in nearby Weidhausen near Coburg and stole the money. The police are investigating charges of theft and causing an explosive device explosion.
Because of similar traces, the police suspect a connection between the crimes. In Heimstetten, the unknown perpetrators stole 135 packs of cigarettes and 42.50 euros, in the Aschheim district of Dornach 28 packs and 70.50 euros. Nothing is known about the loot from the ticket machine. An unknown amount of cash was stolen, police said. The machine between the train tracks was completely destroyed by the explosion.
According to the current state of investigation, both the ticket machine and the two cigarette machines may have been blown up with illegal pyrotechnics. The police put the amount of damage at the ticket machine at 10,000 euros, at the other two machines on Hürderstrasse in Kirchheim and Bahnhofstrasse in Dornach at 3,000 euros each. Despite extensive search measures, there is still no trace of the perpetrators and the loot. Witnesses observed four perpetrators in Kirchheim and Aschheim. 20 patrols and a police helicopter searched in vain for the unknown.
The police are looking for witnesses who observed something suspicious on Wednesday around 3 a.m. in the area of the S-Bahn station in Haar or on the station square, as well as early Monday morning at the two crime scenes in Aschheim and Kirchheim.
