Seven people die, including a fetus, when a 35-year-old shoots around in the Alsterdorf district of Hamburg in the church of Jehovah’s Witnesses. The bewilderment is still palpable the day after.
15 hours after the shots, half a dozen police vans are still lined up in front of the Orchideenweg bus stop. But the crime scene closes. The last ambulance has just driven away, and now the red and white warning tape in front of the three-story box with a washed-out concrete facade has disappeared. Between a jet gas station and a pitstop workshop, a handful of police officers stand guard in the sleet outside the church of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Four men, two women and an unborn child died here on Thursday evening. The mother survived, seven other people were injured.
