Countless blogs advertise for the users’ favor on the Internet. But how do I become a blogger myself?

The world of blogs is colorful and diverse. Users report from their lives, trips, recipes and their favorite series. The nice thing about it: Anyone can create a blog – and be successful with it. How do you get started?

The topic

To stand out from the crowd, a blogger has to offer something special. This can be a refreshing style of writing, but it can also be a specific topic. If you don’t already have dozens of other blogs covering this topic, you are more likely to return. Or why not choose a common topic, but look at the whole thing from a different point of view?

The blog provider

As soon as the idea is up, the budding blogger needs a website. With providers like “Blogger.com” users can create their own blog for free. “WordPress” is particularly popular with experienced users. The tool makes it possible to build a blog or a website without knowledge of a programming language. Users can then publish these on rented web space. With different themes, some of which are free of charge, some of which are subject to a fee, users can adapt the blog to their preferences.

The writing

Anyone who wants to write a blog has to be clear about what is in store for him or her. However, newbies shouldn’t waste too much time. If you only plan and do not take action, you may not publish a single word.

Then it goes to the first entry. Everyone has their own style of writing and he or she should stick to that. Digital tools like the word league’s text analysis tool however, help to avoid mistakes, phrases, abbreviations and the like. This will benefit beginners and advanced bloggers. The tool also evaluates the legibility of a text. If the writing is too banal, the text appears boring. Sentences that are too long and full of foreign words or technical language can be difficult to understand.

Bring patience

Just because a user has put his blog online, that doesn’t mean that suddenly thousands of visitors are reading the lines. It can take years for a blog to become known. Authors should therefore be very patient. Above all, it is important to gain regular readers. Why not set up a newsletter to let people know about posts?

In addition, bloggers should publish content on a regular basis. If a blog looks abandoned, it will not attract readers. Users can also advertise their own blog on social media, for example by distributing or announcing new posts on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook.

What about google?

Optimization for search engines (SEO) is also important so that the website can also be found by those who do not become aware of it on social media. If a blog owner uses certain keywords, the more likely that a reader will find the blog. This offers all kinds of help “Google Search Central”. There bloggers can find out how to optimize their site for search engines.

earn money

In order not to be read with a blog, but also to earn money, there are numerous options – including Google AdSense. After logging in, blog owners or website operators can insert a code so that the Internet giant can automatically display advertisements on the site that are relevant to their own target group. Bloggers can also rent advertising banners directly to companies. At the beginning in particular, the search for a worthwhile advertising partner or sponsor will be rather difficult.

Another option are affiliate programs such as from Amazon. Bloggers can register with a partner and set special links to products such as books or films on the blog. If a visitor buys via such an affiliate link, the blog owner receives a commission. So-called sponsored posts or collaborations are also conceivable. Many larger companies pay to have content published that, for example, features a company’s product. However, all these and other alternatives are usually only worthwhile with a higher number of visitors. After all, a sponsor is unlikely to spend any money so that only five consumers become aware of a company’s product through the blog.
