Chinese blogger attracts with her youthful appearance – then the filter stops

A Chinese blogger mainly attracts a male audience, and probably primarily because of her looks. But she is not entirely honest about this one, as becomes apparent when the technology fails.

A Chinese blogger has alienated many of her fans when it was revealed during a live show that she is not the young, slim woman she claims to be. This is reported by the British BBC, citing Chinese media. Accordingly, a technical glitch during a joint live stream with another video artist exposed the true face of the blogger, who calls herself “Your Highness Qiao Biluo”. In the middle of the transmission, the filter failed, which otherwise made “Qiao Biluo” look like a very slim woman in her early 20s. Suddenly her actual self appeared, a much older woman with completely different facial features in the split screen. According to the BBC, numerous viewers then left the video chat room.

Before the glitch happened, “Qiao Biluo” had repeatedly encouraged her followers to give her numerous gifts, after all she was such a good-looking hostess. On the Chinese platform douyu.com, viewers can send money directly to the channel operator. According to the BBC, some donated the equivalent of more than 5,000 euros.

Blogger didn’t notice anything at first

The blogger, whose voice is said to have been alienated by a filter, only noticed her mishap after a few minutes, when viewers ran away in droves. A recording is circulating on YouTube during which the filter seems to have already failed. There, “Qiao Biluo” can be seen with her natural looks, speaking to the camera in split-screen with a fellow blogger. Apparently she is not aware of the breakdown at this point. The image combo in the first few seconds of the video is intended to show the Chinese woman’s internet alternative self on the right, as long as the filter was on.

According to the BBC, following the error in the live stream, numerous followers of “Qiao Biluo” turned away, and several even withdrew their money transfers. The topic is hotly debated in China’s social networks. Many would accuse the followers of being to blame for their superficial nature and that they deserve to be fooled. According to the report, the blogger deleted her platforms after the incident.
