Blockades during farmers’ protests: It’s not coercion – opinion

First the climate activists, now the farmers: As long as the blockades are temporary, they are fine. The federal government should take them very seriously.

Just in case anyone has forgotten, the new year also reminds us of what previous years have already demonstrated in variations: the street is a political place. If you don’t feel heard with your arguments, you can give your concern a physical presence that literally no one can ignore. Some use superglue, others sit on tractors, the effect is the same: the protest disrupts everyday life in order to generate attention and focus the spotlight on their own goals.
