Blazing heat, sharp winds and storms – this is what summer looks like

It is hot all over Germany, sometimes violent thunderstorms and storms are sweeping through the country, but in some regions it is so dry that the authorities fear forest fires, such as this weekend in parts of Brandenburg and Saxony-Anhalt.

It is currently very warm, especially in southern Germany: on Saturday the thermometer in Bavaria showed up to 38 degrees – the children there in the schools are still sweating. The summer holidays in Bavaria traditionally start late, this year on July 31st. In some other parts of Germany, the schools have long been closed, it’s vacation time.

Weekend with heat: off to the bathing lake or to the outdoor pool!

But at least this weekend gave many people in Germany the opportunity to cool off at bathing lakes and outdoor pools. In Munich, many sun worshipers were drawn to the banks of the Isar, where there was a great rush. The beaches on the North and Baltic Seas were also well attended.

At the beginning of the week, the heat is likely to continue according to forecasts by meteorologists in this country, but from the middle of the week it could also cool down a bit. The summer weather is always suitable for summer photo motifs, as this photo series shows.
