The head of US financial investor Blackstone, Steve Schwarzman, received billions in salary last year despite a slump in profits. Schwarzman earned a total of $1.26 billion in 2022, the investment company announced on Saturday. Most of the billionaire’s earnings come from paying dividends as a shareholder of the New York-based company. The US investment bank Goldman Sachs, on the other hand, reduced the salary of its boss David Solomon by 29 percent to $25 million. JPMorgan paid its boss Jamie Dimon $34.5 million, the same as last year. In the final quarter, Blackstone’s distributable net income fell 41 percent to $1.3 billion due to high interest rates and prices, recession fears and geopolitical uncertainties over the Ukraine war. At the end of the quarter, the company had $974.7 billion in assets under management.
