Bizarre accident in Freising: woman is stuck in the balcony railing – Freising

The Freising fire brigade completed an unusual operation on Saturday afternoon on Kleiberweg in Lerchenfeld: A woman got her leg stuck in a balcony railing and had to be freed by the helpers.

At around 12 noon, the woman initially locked herself out of her apartment on the third floor. Because she probably didn’t want an expensive locksmith, she came up with the idea of going from the balcony of the neighboring apartment to her own balcony and then through the open balcony door back into the apartment. However, when trying to bridge the almost one meter gap between the two balconies, she stumbled and got her leg between the facade and the railing.

Lucky in misfortune: there was no acute danger of falling because she had fallen over the parapet onto the balcony – however, she was no longer able to free herself from her predicament on her own. The rescue workers called by the neighbors used the turntable ladder to gain access to the balcony and the apartment. After an emergency medical first aid, the fire brigade actually had to remove part of the metal railing with a saber saw. Only then could the patient be freed from her unfortunate situation. Eventually, she was transported downstairs on a stretcher using the turntable ladder.

The rescue service took her to the Freising Clinic for further examination. Both Freisinger fire stations were in action with four vehicles and 20 helpers, who were able to return after just under an hour.
