Birgit Prinz was back on the lawn on Tuesday morning. At the Grasshoppers Rugby Football Club training ground in west London, she ran onto the pitch with Marina Hegering and Merle Frohms, grabbed a ball, played it left to right, ran up and down and through the water sprinkler in over 35 degrees Celsius . Juggling the ball, keeping it close to the foot, jogging for another round, short sprints and finally five against two – she went along with everything. If she hadn’t been wearing black trousers and a black T-shirt, she would hardly have been noticeable from a distance among the players dressed in mint green. Birgit Prinz, who ended her career in August 2011, is back in full training.
