BIPV photovoltaics: Well integrated – style

A sports hall in Eppingen shows what it can look like: the solar system in the district of Heilbronn was discreetly integrated into the red roof of the hall. The 66 kilowatts of power produce at least 90 percent of the electricity that a classic solar power system with uncoated glass produces. A total of 224 solar modules with a red color coating were installed. Building-integrated photovoltaics, or BIPV in German, ensure that the building produces solar power unobtrusively. In the future, solar will also be usable for listed buildings. The Swiss manufacturer 3S Swiss Solar Solutions is currently even developing modules with an optical wood structure. There are also completely white panels – but the efficiency is lower here.
