Just before he hugs him goodbye in Madrid in July 2021, Julian Josberg is stuck (name changed) put a GPS tracker in his son’s backpack. It’s not a foreboding, it’s more of a vague fear. He’s getting along well with his Bolivian ex-girlfriend after a difficult breakup. They both live in Hamburg and take turns looking after their son. The mother wants to spend the second half of the 2021 summer holidays with the eight-year-old and her new boyfriend in Spain. No need to worry, says the father, who has a different name but should be called Julian Josberg to protect his son. And yet a quiet doubt gnawed deep inside him.
