Billionaires: That’s how much money the ten richest Germans have

The richest person in the world, Bernard Arnault, has about six times as much money as the wealthiest German – that “Forbes” winner’s podium is therefore almost unattainable for local entrepreneurs. Because there tends to be little movement in the ranking of the richest German people. Only the pandemic was able to bring about a lasting, visible change, since, for example, the Strüngmann brothers were suddenly overwhelmed with money with an early investment in Biontech.

But the usual suspects can also be found in this photo gallery – ironically some without a photo. Because some of them attach great importance to privacy, so there are very few pictures of them. Above all, Dieter Schwarz, owner of the group of the same name, which controls Kaufland and Lidl. With a total fortune of currently 36 billion euros, Schwarz ranks 30th internationally.

It would not be enough for the top 20 in the world, because it currently starts with Julia Koch and family (Koch Industries) and around 55.5 billion euros in total assets. The top spots are even further away. Google founder Larry Page is currently in 10th place with 76 billion euros, the first six rankings are all over 100 billion.

The youngest billionaire in the world comes from Germany

The biggest climber in recent years is Klaus Michael Kühne, who was able to significantly increase his assets to 34 billion euros in parallel with the pandemic. This currently gives him second place in Germany and 34th place worldwide.

The richest woman in the country is and remains Susanne Klatten. The BMW heiress and investor is currently looking at 25 billion euros, which puts her in seventh place among women internationally. Germany can currently also claim first place for itself, because the youngest billionaire in the world still comes from here. The 20-year-old Kevin David Lehmann, heir to large shares in the drugstore chain dm, currently manages assets of 2.2 billion euros.
