Bill Gates speaks of “global annihilation” – the clip is a fake

Watch the video: Bill Gates speaks of “global annihilation” – why you should under no circumstances believe this video.

This manipulated video by Microsoft founder Bill Gates is being shared by users on social networks.

The clip gives the impression that the entrepreneur wants to use Covid-19 vaccinations to bring about “global obliteration”.

“To achieve this goal of global annihilation, we need three things. The capacity to manufacture billions of vaccine doses. The means to pay for them. And systems to deliver them anywhere.”

The video snippet, taken out of context, suggests that Gates’ statements are referring to the annihilation of humanity.

But the video actually has a completely different message.

The supposedly scandalous clip by Bill Gates is a scene taken out of context.

The clip will be posted on Twitter by the Gates Foundation in September 2020.

In the context of the video, it becomes clear that Gates is referring to the coronavirus with the words “global annihilation” – and that the means to achieve this goal is a vaccine.

“These vaccines will allow us to save millions of lives. They will allow us to wipe out Covid-19 globally.”

The case makes it clear how easily statements can be taken out of context and turned into the opposite. So a billionaire who wants to save lives becomes a man who strives for a “global annihilation” of humanity.

How do we check videos for manipulation in the editorial office? It is important to look at the details. The individual frames of a video often reveal whether a video has been edited. We take a close look at each image and enlarge individual sections. Indications of a fake are, for example: lack of motion blur, unnatural shadows or editing errors. The general rule at stern is: Seriousness before speed. We always double-check facts and material thoroughly before publishing them. For this we work with the cross-editorial “Team Verification” together with RTL, NTV, RTL2, Radio NRW.
