Vacation time is traffic jam time – also on the rails and in the air. Images of long queues at airports and crowds squeezing into overcrowded regional and long-distance trains have become routine this summer. Better to stay at home before attempting to travel by train (or by bike for the whole family) during peak travel times. It is quite possible that the train staff will refuse to take your bike with you. Such tours can hardly be planned, especially in regional transport, because the parking spaces cannot be reserved. And the few bicycle spaces in long-distance traffic (and with the airlines) are often fully booked weeks or months in advance.
