Big problem ahead with the closure of the Paris-Vaucresson section on the A13

Major traffic difficulties are expected this weekend in western Paris. The A13 motorway is in fact closed in both directions between the Paris ring road and the A86 since Thursday evening, and until Monday April 22 inclusive, indicates the Ile-de-France Roads Directorate (Dirif) in a statement.

“A transverse crack in the A13 in the Saint-Cloud sector” was observed during the night from Thursday to Friday during long-planned work, reveals Dirif. “ [La fissure] runs along the end of the insertion ramp and crosses the A13 towards Saint-Cloud park, with a depth of 50 to 80 cm depending on the location,” she specifies. This crack was caused by a “ground movement, the causes of which are currently being diagnosed”. The latter also cracked a sewerage structure located 4 meters deep under the motorway.

Alternative routes to favor

This very busy section of road to the west of Paris has therefore been closed “in order to guarantee the safety of users”, specifies the Dirif, which invites motorists to avoid the sector or to postpone their trips. The authorities invite motorists to consider alternative routes via the A12, the N12 and the N118. The A13 motorway connects Paris to Caen, in Normandy, via the south of Rouen. It is particularly used by Parisians wishing to go to the Normandy coast.

This closure comes just before the last weekend of the school holidays for Ile-de-France. Bison futé predicts difficult traffic in the region in the direction of returns on Saturday and Sunday. Above all, surveillance by Dirif “will continue until Monday April 22 to allow a first progress update”. Depending on the situation, “a reopening of the A13 could be considered during next week”, hopes the Dirif, which is not yet a given. Western Ile-de-France residents should expect many slowdowns.
