big photo update to be expected in April

Samsung is planning a major camera update for the Galaxy S24 Ultra. This should take place in April.

Samsung would continue to improve its most high-end smartphone with a substantial update which should reach us in April. The information comes from the often knowledgeable Ice Universe, via his X account.

Launched in January 2024, the Galaxy S24 Ultra already underwent a major update in February. This mainly concerned its photo part and rather corrected aspects rather than improving it with new functions. We are talking here about zoom performance, an imperfect bokeh effect or even night shots that are too noisy.

In March, the update brought to the Galaxy S24 Ultra is minor and fixes a few bugs. This month, Samsung has instead focused on bringing its artificial intelligence functions (Galaxy AI) to previous generations of Galaxy through the broadening of the deployment of its One UI 6.1 update.

Improved zoomed photos

But in April, the Galaxy S24 Ultra would be in the spotlight again with an improvement to its camera, notably relating to “white balance and the quality of its telephoto photos”says Ice Universe.

Despite the fixes in the February update, the Galaxy S24 Ultra still suffers from some ailments. Lacking the x10 optical zoom of the Galaxy S23 Ultra, it must battle with a hybrid digital format which combines the x5 optical zoom to work. The result can be either good or questionable. Work done on this part makes sense. Same story for its too dark rendering on certain scenes or the too warm tint that we can observe in certain shots.

We still come to points of detail which in no way affect the photo performance of the Galaxy S24 Ultra which is one of the best photophones of 2024.
