A galley night for more than 500 travellers. A night train leaving Briançon (Hautes-Alpes) for Paris was blocked for more than five hours in Côte d’Or, a torn catenary causing major disruptions on the line, we learned Monday from the SNCF .
“The incident is almost closed,” said the public establishment around noon, confirming information from the daily The Public Good. A catenary was torn off as a train passed between Blaisy-Bas and Les Laumes (Côte d’Or), on the Paris-Lyon-Marseille line.
Passengers will be compensated
A night train was immobilized for long hours. Several hundred passengers were finally taken care of and brought back to Les Laumes, from where they normally left for Paris at 12 p.m., with an expected arrival around 2 p.m., a delay of around six hours compared to the initial journey.
Passengers received bottles of water and a meal tray, said the SNCF. Affected travelers may be compensated up to 200% of the ticket price. Traffic returned to normal on Monday afternoon.
