Joe Biden is waging a war on three fronts in the Middle East: political, diplomatic and military. There is no doubt that the American president has maneuvered himself – or allowed himself to be maneuvered – into a highly complex situation. The chain of events leaves the USA no choice but to vigorously pursue its interests and define a clear goal in this complex conflict. If Biden held back, he would become a victim and ultimately a victim – a victim of the Israeli hardliners around Prime Minister Netanyahu, a victim of Iran and its more or less uncontrollable militias and finally a victim of his own ambitions. Because in the Middle East nothing less than the credibility of a superpower is at stake.
