Bicycle theft: On the hunt for stolen bikes – Panorama

If a bike is stolen in Germany, you can be pretty sure that it will never show up again. Daniel Gutierrez, a trained scout, has taken up the fight against bike thieves – and is using Flex himself.

Marcel Laskus, Berlin

Daniel Gutierrez doesn’t yet know where his search will lead him, but he’s in a hurry, that’s for sure. He is overtaking a pensioner, he is overtaking a woman with brightly colored hair, the curls on his head fluttering in the wind. He accelerated his e-bike to 30 kilometers per hour. And so that the last person also knows that he is one of the fastest on Schönhauser Allee in Berlin, he now yells: “Let’s go!” What he’s looking for costs 2,000 euros and is as difficult to find as white in-ear headphones in powder snow. Gutierrez, 30, is on the hunt for stolen bicycles. The Dutchman has been on the road for six years on behalf of the e-bike manufacturer Van Moof and in the end becomes a man who picks bike locks himself.
