Vanessa Voigt and Justus Strelow shoot well. But it’s not enough for the German team to win their third World Cup medal in three days.

Vanessa Voigt and Justus Strelow missed the hoped-for medal in the single mixed relay at the Biathlon World Championships in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic.

A good three and a half weeks after their World Cup debut victory in this discipline, the duo had to settle for sixth place. After four spare rounds, the two ended up 1:04.6 minutes behind the new world champions France. Italy secured silver ahead of Norway.

In the most recent World Cup competition, no German duo has yet been at the top of a major event. Franziska Preuß and Erik Lesser were the only ones to have won World Cup silver in Antholz in 2020.

Voigt and Strelow won the World Cup dress rehearsal in Antholz on January 20th with just one spare shot in eight shooting sessions. Both are among the top shooters in the entire field and were therefore among the favorites.
