Biathlon World Cup live – Single mixed relay in the ticker: German duo Justus Strelow and Vanessa Voigt are chasing a medal

Despite the good conditions, the fight for precious metal will not be a walk in the park. The competition for defending champions Norway (Johannes Thingnes Bö and Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold), Sweden (Sebastian Samuelsson and Hanna Öberg) and France (Quentin Fillon Maillet and Lou Jeanmonnot) is strong.

And it’s back to the shooting range. Jeanmonnot and Tandrevold get through without a spare. Lena Häcki-Groß and the American Deirdre Irwin have to reload once, Hauser twice. Voigt hits everything and leaves the stand in fifth place.

Immediately after the shooting there was a change. France leads ahead of Norway and Switzerland. Austria with Lisa-Theresa Hauser is fifth behind the USA, followed by Germany. The field is still close together.

Fillon Maillet hits everything again and is the first to leave. Bö has to reload once and is four seconds behind the Frenchman. Hartweg leaves the shooting range in third place. A spare for Strelow, but he didn’t cut a good figure on the cross-country ski trail.

And then it’s time for the first prone shooting. Strelow clears all the targets at a fast pace, Samuelsson, Fillon Maillet, Hartweg and Eder also hit everything. Bö has to reload once, but that’s not a problem for him. Giacomel with two spares while Rastorgujevs catches up with clean shooting.

While Johannes Thingnes Bö accelerates at the front, the next crash happens on the climb. The starting runners from Poland and Canada are affected after getting caught.

Since the single mixed relay is the least established competition in biathlon, here is a rough overview of the process. A team consists of one man and one woman. The men start, then the women follow, then the men again and finally the women again. Each round is shot once lying down and once standing. As in the other seasons, you can reload a maximum of three times per shoot.

28 relay teams are taking part. Voigt and Strelow are among the medal candidates. This circle is led by Norway with Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold and Johannes Thingnes Bö, even if Tandrevold has not yet made a start at this World Cup. Also worth paying attention to are France, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden and Latvia with Baiba Bendika and Andrejs Rastorgujevs.
