Biathlon World Cup – For the time being without Röiseland – Sport

Overall biathlon World Cup winner Marte Olsbu Röiseland will not start the season before January. As the Norwegian association announced, the ailing 31-year-old skipped at least the competitions in Hochfilzen and Le Grand-Bornand after the start in Kontiolahti/Finland. “Of course it’s annoying,” said Röiseland: “But my form isn’t where it should be. Health is the most important thing.” Her goal is to “come back strong at the World Championships”, so, according to the three-time Olympic champion, she is now taking the necessary time. The title fights in Oberhof will take place from February 8th to 19th. Röiseland was already struggling with health problems in the summer. Team colleague Tiril Eckhoff has also been taking a long break from competition since November due to health problems.
