A penalty minute is particularly bitter for Vanessa Voigt. The biathlete narrowly missed the small crystal ball in Oslo for victory in the individual World Cup. A Norwegian woman wins the race.

Biathlete Vanessa Voigt narrowly missed her first triumph in the individual discipline World Cup with a sixth place in Oslo.

One shooting error was too much for the Thuringian over 15 kilometers to secure the small crystal ball. In the victory of the Norwegian Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold (1 error), Voigt was 1:04.7 minutes behind. Second place went to the Swede Elvira Öberg (1) ahead of the Norwegian Ida Lien (1).

In the discipline ranking, the trophy went to the Italian Lisa Vittozzi (2), who came fourth, after a total of three races. Voigt, who finished fourth at the Olympics, came second in the final results. In all four classic races – the World Cup competition is no longer counted in the World Cup – the 26-year-old Voigt only had one penalty minute this winter and hit the mark 79 times.

Due to dense fog, the individual was postponed from Thursday to Friday. There was another shift on Friday afternoon before visibility improved significantly.

Franziska Preuß was not at the start. The former relay world champion may not be able to compete in any more races this winter due to ongoing health problems. As the German Ski Association announced, the 29-year-old will not compete in Oslo or next week in Soldier Hollow/USA. If Preuß becomes completely healthy, only starts at the World Cup finals in Canmore/Canada would be possible.
