Biathlon: Erik Lesser wins pursuit at Holmenkollen – Sport

Biathlete Erik Lesser came up trumps again in the penultimate race of his career and sensationally won the pursuit in Oslo. At the World Cup finals at the legendary Holmenkollen on Saturday, the 33-year-old laid the foundation for the third World Cup success of his career, which he ended after the mass start on Sunday, with four fast and flawless shooting bouts.

The Thuringian came to the final shooting in second place behind the clearly leading sprint winner Sturla Holm Laegreid. But the Norwegian had two penalties and Lesser went into the final lap 13.1 seconds ahead of overall World Cup winner Quentin Fillon Maillet and 14.2 seconds ahead of Laegreid, where he didn’t let his pursuers get close. After 12.5 kilometers, Lesser relegated the Frenchman Maillet (1 penalty) to second place with a lead of 9.4 seconds. Laegreid (3) was 22.7 seconds behind Lesser. Benedikt Doll was ninth.
