The results are correct, the form is also correct. Nevertheless, former biathlon world champion Benedikt Doll rules out continuing his career.

Biathlon veteran Benedikt Doll has ruled out retiring. “No, there’s no backing out anymore,” the 33-year-old told ARD after his first clear shooting in his last relay race, which the German team finished in third place. “It’s been a really nice look back. I’ve already seen it and there are a lot of moments in it where I said: Yes, it was a great time. But I’m also happy to just have it as a memory and then no longer actively get involved.”

Doll still has five individual races ahead of him this weekend in Soldier Hollow in the US and next year in Canada before his career ends. The Black Forest native announced his decision in February. Shortly before, he had won the German men’s only medal by finishing third in the individual at the World Championships in Nove Mesto.

He also came up trumps again at the penultimate World Cup event and put the DSV quartet on course for the podium. “We wanted to show that we can do better than fourth place at the World Cup. I’m very happy that we achieved that and it’s even nicer that we managed to get on the podium in Benni’s last season,” said discipline coach Jens Filbrich .
