BFMTV loses a new star journalist, Bruce Toussaint, who joins the TF1 morning show

Surprising announcement as the television channels have long revealed their schedules for the 2023-2024 season. One of the stars of BFMTV, Bruce Toussaint, will join TF1 to host a new daily morning show from the start of 2024, the TF1 group announced on Thursday.

Currently in charge of Live Toussaint from 9 a.m. to noon on the continuous news channel, “Bruce Toussaint will present a daily morning reception from Monday to Friday,” announced TF1 in a press release. This new program “will see a succession of information editions, sections on daily life, culture, the art of living and major trends”, specifies the channel, owned by the Bouygues group.

“Closer to viewers”

“Surrounded by a new team of columnists, [Bruce Toussaint] will rely on the network of regional correspondents to be as close as possible to viewers and their daily lives,” he added. Quoted in the press release, the deputy general director of information for the TF1 group, Thierry Thuillier, welcomed the arrival of “a very great journalist who will be able to give the necessary impetus” to a “new meeting » supposed to “reinforce the close bond with the public”.

This is the third star journalist that BFMTV has lost this season after Jean-Baptiste Boursier, who left to host the morning show on LCI, the TF1 group’s news channel, and Aurélie Casse, recruited by France 5 for the show “C l’ weekly.” Still far ahead in the ranking of news channels, the Altice group channel, joined at the start of the school year by Laurent Ruquier, has however seen the gap narrow with its competitors CNews and LCI in recent months.
