BFM announces Macron’s victory “by mistake” well before the results

The BFMTV channel recognized an “error” on Sunday after briefly posting on Twitter and on its YouTube site an image announcing Emmanuel Macron’s victory nearly an hour and a half before the publication of the election results. “This publication is the result of human error and was removed immediately, a few seconds after this unfortunate posting,” commented the BFMTV channel, requested by AFP.

“All assumptions are prepared by the teams,” she explained. On Twitter and on its YouTube site, BFMTV had briefly posted around 6:30 p.m. the following message “Emmanuel Macron re-elected: his entire speech at the Champ de Mars”, with the Eiffel Tower in the background. This message withdrawn a few minutes later sparked several indignant reactions on Twitter. The results of the election are announced at 8:00 p.m. sharp and the French media are obliged not to reveal anything before.
