Bettina Beckert is the new director of Sotheby’s Munich – Munich

Bettina Beckert has headed the Munich office of Sotheby’s, the famous London auction house, since November. She is currently in the process of auctioning off part of Karl Lagerfeld’s estate.

When Bettina Beckert talks about art, her hands start dancing. Her fingernails become buzzing red dots accompanying her enthusiasm. Beckert has been interested in art since she was young and now, as a logical consequence, she is where she can contribute her knowledge and her lively way of speaking. In September 2021, Beckert began working as a specialist for modern and contemporary art in the Munich office of Sotheby’s. Since November she has headed this branch of the auction house founded in London in 1744. She replaced Katharina zu Sayn-Wittgenstein.
