The Süper Lig club Besiktas is apparently interested in signing defender Diego Godin (Cagliari Calcio). The Turkish sports newspaper reports Fanatics.
Accordingly, the 16-time Turkish champion is planning a start in the coming winter transfer window. Besiktas is said to have taken care of the 35-year-old as early as the summer, but at the time Godin decided to stay with Cagliari, where his contract runs until 2023.
In the summer of 2020, Godin moved from Inter Milan to the current bottom of the Serie A table on a free transfer. The Uruguayan has made eight league appearances (one assist) in the current season, but has also had to struggle with injuries.
He had previously played for Atletico Madrid for nine years, winning the Europa League twice and the championship once with the Rojiblancos. He also won the 2011 Copa America with Uruguay.
