The Buchheim Museum is presenting parts of Joseph Hierling’s exquisite woodcut collection in the “Flächenbrand Expressionismus” exhibition. It has not yet been decided whether the art collector will also give this collection, like his paintings and works on paper, to Bernried. In any case, the museum is already planning an expansion.

“No one knows anymore,” says Joseph Hierling. Probably the sentence that is said most frequently during the tour of the exhibition “Flächenbrand Expressionismus”. The Tutzing art collector is of course right. Most of the names under the exhibits are only known to specialists. But that doesn’t matter in view of the overwhelming stylistic variety, the multifacetedness and the high quality of the individual sheets.
