Bernreiter’s public transport strategy is not a plan, but a wish list – Bavaria

The Minister of Transport presents his strategy for local public transport – and the doubts as to whether it can be financed. That’s refreshingly realistic. And reveals old omissions.

You had to look twice when Christian Bernreiter presented his “Public Transport Strategy 2030” this Thursday. Is that actually a member of the Bavarian state government standing at the lectern? He threw the reporters neither superlatives nor impressive sums of billions. The transport minister had not even missed a crisp claim in his plans for buses and trains in Bavaria. No agenda, no offensive, no, simply: strategy. And as if that wasn’t enough, Bernreiter also cast doubt on whether his strategy could be financed. That is embarrassing? no It’s the reality.
