The Berlin fire brigade went on a large-scale operation to provide refugee accommodation at the former Tegel Airport. A hall in which Ukrainian refugees are housed is burning.

The Berlin fire brigade is on a large-scale operation Refugee accommodation opened at the former Tegel Airport. A spokesman said on Tuesday that 100 emergency services were on the way. There was supposed to be a fire in three tents in the emergency shelter. “We expect several people to be injured,” said the spokesman. A thick cloud of smoke could be seen over the former airport site.

A spokeswoman for the State Office for Refugee Affairs told the Berliner Zeitung that, according to current knowledge, no one was injured. Hall A1, where Ukrainian refugees are housed, is on fire. The hall is located on the edge of the arrival center for refugees. Almost 7,000 people are currently accommodated in the temporary accommodation for Ukrainian refugees and asylum seekers.
