Berlin police arrest minors with handcuffs

On Saturday morning, several Last Generation activists protested at the facade of the Chancellery as a sign of their protest with the words “Help! Your children” smeared.

According to the Berlin police, 16 people between the ages of 13 and 16 were temporarily arrested for painting themselves and the facade. According to Last Generation, all activists are under 20 years old. The police were on site with six personnel carriers, and federal police supported the operation. A police spokeswoman said ten people were arrested. Some of them were handcuffed.

Last generation: riot at a similar protest at the end of October

The group of young climate activists said they called on the federal government to become aware of the responsibility it has for the young generation and to finally fulfill it. One worded appeal said, among other things: “We are young, we are desperate, we are afraid and we are angry. We are the first generation to grow up in the climate crisis.”

It was not the last generation’s first color campaign in front of the Federal Chancellery. At the end of October, a similar protest resulted in riots involving plainclothes police.
