The Berlin police have lost a number of operational resources in the past two years, as can be seen from the answer to a parliamentary question. These include 130 batons and over a hundred rounds of ammunition.

Firearms, ammunition and a number of other Berlin police resources have been lost or missing since 2021. This emerges from a response from the interior administration to a parliamentary question from MP Niklas Schrader (Left). Accordingly, a pistol was lost while on duty in 2021 by a police officer from the State Criminal Police Office. Another has been missing since this year. The weapon was assigned to an employee of the Central Special Services Police Department and disappeared while off duty, according to the answer dated October 25th. Both pistols were lost outside the office.

Berlin police are also missing protective vests

In addition, more than 100 rounds of ammunition, almost 390 irritant spray devices and around 130 batons are missing from the police inventory. According to the information, the Operations/Traffic Directorate is missing the most ammunition with 31 missing shots, followed by the Central Special Services Directorate with 30 shots. 35 ballistic protective vests are also considered missing (as of October 18).

According to the interior administration, the number of proceedings with the aim of revoking people’s weapons or hunting licenses has decreased in recent years. There were 99 procedures in 2021, a total of 54 in 2022 and 29 procedures so far this year (as of October 18th).
