A high school teacher from Berchtesgadener Land is in custody on suspicion of abuse. The Upper Bavaria South Police Headquarters and the Traunstein public prosecutor’s office jointly announced that the man is suspected of having sexually abused a child under the age of 14 in two cases.
The man had “fundamentally confessed” to the allegations. For privacy reasons, the authorities did not reveal whether the victim was a girl or a boy. According to the information, the man has been in custody since the beginning of March. Shortly beforehand, the police became aware of the suspected cases of abuse.
The crimes are said to have occurred in the months of January and February. The accused was a teacher at a high school until his arrest. The school was involved early on by law enforcement authorities. Because of the possible risk of repetition, the public prosecutor’s office obtained an arrest warrant. It cannot be ruled out that further attacks may have occurred.
That’s why the public prosecutor’s office and the criminal police asked for information from the public. The investigators called on other possible victims to come forward; as well as people who know possible other victims or who can provide information about possible further crimes. The investigators are also looking for witnesses who may have noticed anything unusual in connection with the teacher at or outside of school.
