Berchtesgaden: 34-year-old falls 150 meters to his death in Alpenn – Bavaria

A man from North Rhine-Westphalia fell about 150 meters in the Alps near Berchtesgaden and died. As the police announced on Monday, the 34-year-old man from Siegen had not returned from a hike to Hohen Laafeld on Saturday. That’s why the innkeeper, on whose pasture the hiker had checked in on Saturday, called the police on Sunday.

This was able to find him together with the mountain rescue service at 1880 meters above sea level – lifeless. According to the police, the man was probably following a path that is often marked on cell phone maps, but does not exist as such. In the “rocky and grassy terrain, he slipped and then fell at least 150 meters over the rocks,” it said.

He suffered fatal head injuries. According to the current state of investigation, the man was traveling alone.
