Elisabeth Tworek announced the start-up in June 2019. Because the head of the culture department of the district of Upper Bavaria wanted to use the fact that the monument and home care department, which had been located in the Meierhof of the Benediktbeuern monastery for many years, was returning to Munich, to install the “Homeland and Culture Forum” in the rooms next to the costume information center. After a general renovation next year, changing special exhibitions are to take place in the vaulted hall, including the presentation of valuable exhibits from the district’s own collections. But Christoph Brech’s “Alpeninfonie” video, with which the Forum is already starting its program, also works without the renovation. His work sets the composition of the same name by Richard Strauss in the picture. Brech has shifted the main character’s migration from the alpine natural environment to the theater stage. There the protagonist completes a tightrope act, analogous to the stations in Strauss’ mountain hike.
