Bella Italia and Amore: Roy Bianco and the Abbrunzati Boys in the podcast – Munich

Whoever looks and listens closely realizes that Roy Bianco and the Abbrunzati Boys cannot have 41 years of stage experience. And that behind the name are not a whole group, but only two men. It’s supposed to be like this: The two musicians have created a legend around them, embody their roles with 80’s outfits, mustaches and retro music videos. The formation was founded in Sirmione on Lake Garda in 1982, and two years later the international breakthrough followed when they took part in the Schlager Festival in Rio de Janeiro. In 1984 the two frontmen also met their show band: Ralph Rubin on keyboards, Eisensepp on bass, Bungo Jonas on drums and Blechkofler on trumpet.

They claim that their debut album “Greatest Hits”, which was released in spring 2020, is their comeback album. The band members reunited in the summer of 2016 after a break of almost twenty years. Since then they have been touring through the cities together and have made it to number one in the German album charts with their second album. How does this success feel? That’s what the self-proclaimed Italo pop stars told us in the podcast.

Of course, Roy Bianco and the Abbrunzati Boys are not from Lake Garda, but from Munich and Augsburg. Her music is somewhere between Schlager and pop – her love for Italy is evident in songs like “Bella Napoli”, “Ponte di Rialto” or “Amore sul Mare”. How the musicians manage to stay in their roles, how they deal with criticism, what drives them and what plans for the future they have – that’s also what the podcast is about.
