Leon Goretzka again had to break off the training session at FC Bayern on Thursday. This was also the case about two weeks ago. Muscular problems keep plaguing him.
Like almost two weeks ago, Leon Goretzka had to picture according to the Thursday training. He was only able to train with the team for just over half an hour before leaving the pitch and heading towards the dressing room.
It is still unclear whether it was just a precautionary measure, whether he was complaining about muscular problems again or whether he sustained a new injury in the unit. However, since he left the field independently and without any major incidents, it should come down to one of the first two scenarios.
Again and again it happens with Goretzka that he either cannot take part in units at all or that he has to break them off in the middle. At least it feels like this has increased in frequency after he had to tackle his knee surgery last summer. A year ago he was even absent for more than 100 days because he had to get stubborn hip problems under control. Since then there have been complaints on his part on a fairly regular basis, at least for a professional footballer.
A training break so shortly before the important game against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday evening, at least puts a question mark over the 27-year-old’s commitment.
It’s quite possible that it is now the starting XI chance for Ryan Gravenberch are. While Goretzka – like many other Bayern players – could not really convince in the first two games in 2023, the young Dutchman knew how to collect arguments for himself after his substitution on Tuesday.
